Five Out of Five: A Northern Standard for Financial Wellbeing
Author: Colin St John, Group Chairman
There’s no denying we’ve had some proud moments this year, and our achievements with the MAIAs and the GGAs sit right up there amongst the best. Each success validates your progress in different ways. What you’re doing, where you’re going, the work you’re delivering, and the impact you’re having.
But there’s something uniquely powerful about being recognised on your home turf.
And when that recognition comes as being announced as a finalist in five out of five categories we entered in this years ‘This Is MCR’ awards, it feels especially significant. Particularly satisfying, too, in what has already been a standout year for our company.
Because momentum at home is what shapes the future. It simply feels more meaningful to set the standard on your own turf. The North has always had a reputation for graft, resilience and straight‑talking honesty. Now it’s leading the way in financial wellbeing too.
To be named a finalist in five out of five isn’t just a result. It’s a signal that the work we’re doing isn’t simply being noticed, it’s becoming the benchmark. It shows that innovation in financial education and support doesn’t need to come from London, Silicon Valley or global institutions.
It can come from here. From the North. From Munny.
We believe that each category we entered reflects a different part of what Munny stands for, not just as a company, but individually and collectively as a Northern organisation shaping the future of financial wellbeing.
What Each Category Represents
Individuals and/or Organisations Promoting Well‑Being: Recognition for the work that helps people feel supported, valued and understood, both inside and outside the workplace. Our partnership with Perkbox and the Digital Wellbeing Support Programme shows how technology and empathy can coexist to make wellbeing accessible to everyone.
Leading Technology / Digital Innovator of the Year: Innovation isn’t about complexity; it’s about clarity. Introducing eM, our AI‑powered Money Coach, represents a new way to deliver financial confidence, combining data, insight and human understanding to help people make better decisions every day.
Organisation Making a Difference: The Money Coach Programme embodies what Munny is built on.Practical education, preventative support and measurable impact. It’s recognition that our work doesn’t just inform, it transforms.
Individual Making Difference: Andy Lang’s nomination reflects the leadership and authenticity behind Munny’s mission. It’s about the people who drive the work forward, not for recognition, but because they believe in what it stands for.
Entrepreneur of the Year: Andy’s second nomination highlights the entrepreneurial spirit that fuels Munny Group. Combining innovation with purpose, and proving that business success and social impact can go hand in hand.
Five out of five means each pillar held its weight. Each one told its own story.
Being frank for a moment, we don’t believe awards define our company. But they do shine a light on the direction it’s heading.
Five out of five finalist nominations tell us that the work we’re doing is resonating and relevant. Not just in boardrooms or judging panels, but in the lives of the people and organisations we support. It shows that financial wellbeing is no longer a niche conversation. It’s becoming a priority, and the North is leading that shift.
This recognition isn’t a finishing line.
It’s fuel.
It reinforces that the programmes we’re building, the education we’re delivering, and the communities we’re supporting are creating real change. It tells us that our approach based around being practical, human, and preventative. Is not only working, but setting a new standard for what financial support should look like.
Most importantly, it reminds us why we started. To make financial confidence accessible. To give people clarity instead of confusion. To help employers support their teams in ways that genuinely matter. To build something meaningful from the North outward.
Five out of five is a moment worth acknowledging, but the real work continues. And if this recognition says anything, it’s that the North isn’t just part of the conversation.
It’s shaping it.
Munny Group, committed to raising the standard of financial wellbeing.
